CASTLE OF
VERSAILLES
This is one of the most famous castles in the world!
A whole day, if not well planned, is not enough for you to get to know the main points as the area of the palace is 63,000 square meters, which is equivalent to 15 football fields!
In 1660, King Louis XIV was looking for a place close to Paris but far from the bustle of the center, his royal advisors found the city of Versailles, and there fixed the royal residence. In French the name of the palace is Château de Versailles. In 1789, when the royal family returned to the capital, the palace was the center of power of the Ancien Régime in France.
The palace has 2,300 rooms, 2,143 windows, 352 fireplaces and 67 stairs. The outside of the palace houses one of the most famous gardens in the world: The Garden of Versailles! It consists of woods, statues, fountains, flowerbeds and lakes. It has 43 km of corridors, 300 statues, 55 fountains. This entire structure took 40 years to build and had 30,000 workers working.
The castle was lit by candles, and mirrors were used to amplify the light. The palace was turned into a museum in 1837. On the first floor of the palace is the Gallery of Mirrors, with more than 300 mirrors and ornate chandeliers. This room was used for parties and important meetings.
Getting to know the Castle will be an incredible and unmissable experience for anyone visiting France!

ROUTE DAY "D"
Departing from Paris and after moving along the charming French roads, our itinerary begins at the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy in Bayeux. The museum is the gateway to the places we will visit, with a rich collection on display, the museum offers us an overview of the Battle of Normandy.
Then we will visit the Pegasus Bridge (memorial museum).
In addition to explaining exactly what the British 6th Division's mission is, the museum keeps on display the original bridge taken on June 6, 1944. The Pegasus Bridge was the first point to be released by Allied forces on D-Day.
On the second day, we will go to Sainte Mère Eglise, considered the first city liberated by the allied forces. We'll take you to the Airborne Museum, dedicated to parachutists and glider pilots, then head to Utah Beach and visit the Pointe du Hoc, strategic point neutralized on June 7, 1944. After that part, we'll head to Utah Beach. Omaha Beach and also to the American Cemetery, created to perpetuate the memory of those who fought in the Battle of Normandy, where there is a large collection of personal equipment and accessories for combatants. The location was also the setting for the epic movie “Saving Private Ryan”! We ended the second day by visiting the Overlord Museum, a fantastic place that showcases a unique collection of WWII tanks and military vehicles. On the third and last day, we will visit the Gold beach, in the beautiful town of Arromanches. The place was chosen by the allies to receive one of the two artificial “Mullberry” ports, which were used for disembarking troops and equipment. In this city, right in front of the beach, there is a museum-store where you can see and, if you want, buy authentic objects from the Second World War.
We finished our itinerary visiting the German Battery of Merville, a fully preserved open-air museum that explains how the battery worked and also explains the usefulness of each bunker. The museum offers the visitor a very realistic reconstruction of the attack that the battery suffered in the early hours of June 6, 1944.
